Quick answer
How many words can you make with these letters?
A set of seven common letters usually makes between 100 and 400 valid English words, counting every length from two letters upward. The exact number depends on the vowel-to-consonant balance: sets with three or four vowels produce several times more words than consonant-heavy sets of the same size.
In more detail
Length matters less than composition. Adding an eighth letter to a good seven-letter set roughly doubles the word count, because every existing word can potentially be extended and entirely new combinations open up. Adding an eighth letter to a poor set changes little.
The letters that unlock the most words are E, A, R, I, O, T, N and S. An S is especially productive because it pluralises a large share of the dictionary, effectively doubling many of your existing options.
Duplicate letters cut the count sharply. Two of the same letter cover fewer distinct words than two different letters, which is why holding a pair is usually worth breaking up.
